Over to you...

We recently ran a competition on this website and in Lancashire County Council’s Vision newspaper, inviting the public to tell us about a great eating out experience in Lancashire. Now let’s hear what you have to say about Lancashire’s fine array of places to eat…

The winner of the competition was Pauline from Old Langho, near Blackburn.
“Go to Angels in Longridge for a heavenly evening. Relax in its spectacular bar and reception, experience friendly and knowledgeable staff and enjoy Lancashire’s finest food cooked to perfection.“

Not surprisingly, many of our award-winning and Taste Lancashire restaurants featured in the responses. Here is just a small selection of comments:

Northcote Manor - Special because every time feels like the first time. Creative masterpieces bursting with new and exciting flavours. Truly divine every time. Christine, Bedfordshire

The ever-lovely Inn at Whitewell on a cold December evening - great bar food in a heaving bar, very friendly service and a roaring fire! Zoe, Manchester

My Mum took me to Senior's Chippy in Thornton. I work abroad, so it was wonderful, brilliant food and reminded me of being little and the seaside. Nick, Manchester

The Highwayman - Long day in Kirby Lonsdale, welcomed with a varied, locally sourced menu. All eight silently savouring. Lancashire food and hospitality saw each table swapping stories. Elizabeth, Preston

La Mezzaluna, Cleveleys - A crimson sunset, breathtaking views across to the Lakeland hills, a succulent rack of Bowland Lamb and Seville Goosnargh Duck, all fantastic ingredients for a most memorable anniversary celebration. Cheryl, Poulton-le-Fylde

Barton Grange Walled Garden Bistro, Preston – The food stimulated all my senses from how it was served to the taste and how it was presented. A relaxing atmosphere and inner contentment enhanced the experience. Lucy, Fleetwood

All the food was local, we had travelled further than the food on our plates had to get to The Three Fishes at Mitton. No wonder it was delicious. Mrs A, Preston

Whelans Fish Restaurant in Lytham - On our first wedding anniversary eating fish and chips in the boot of our car, looking out to the sea, with the kids asleep and quiet. Very peaceful. Sam, Goosnargh

Impeccable service, relaxed surroundings, excellent choice of wines complimenting the locally sourced freshly produced mouth-watering selection makes this a hidden gem. A "European Tour" gourmet evening at The Dining Room in Rawtenstall. Colin, Rawtenstall

And here are a couple of other comments I liked!

Perfectly cooked fish and chips on Cleveleys waterfront. I know you were thinking of restaurants but you can't beat fresh local food in the fresh air, with a view! Michael, Preston

I have not visited a restaurant in Lancashire but I did buy some genuine Lancashire sausages and cheese recently and had a superb meal at home. Rob, North Somerset
