Farewell with a Clog and Billycock

Clog exterior The LBTB team will find any excuse for an opportunity to eat out in Lancashire and so saying farewell to the tourist board's very own PR Guru Adrian gave us a good reason to visit the recently opened Clog and Billycock in Pleasington.

The road to the Clog and Billycock was dark and seemingly never ending, but this latest incarnation from Ribble Valley Inns welcomed us in like a Beacon on the moor with a roaring fire and cosy bar. Whilst waiting for everyone to arrive we sampled some of the nibbles on the menu. The Battered Cauliflower fritters with curried mayonnaise was a surprise hit and although we also got stuck into the Deep Fried Bloomin' Onion, the latter was tasty but a little messy to eat with your fingers!

When the guest of Honor (Adrian) arrived late we could finally tuck into our main courses. Thankfully we had all ordered in advance so we didn't have to wait too long. I had opted for the Fish pie, packed with Fleetwood fish and prawns, topped with mash and yummy Butlers cheese. This is a favourite of mine from the Three Fishes in Mitton but I can report it was as delicious and tasty as ever (so much so that I didn't make it to pudding.)
The rest of the team sampled the full breath of the menu - from the salmon salad and the skate to toad-in-the-hole and the cheese & onion pie - the feedback generally was thumbs-up.

By the time we had cleared our main course the pub was packed to the rafters - not bad for a Thursday night in deepest, darkest Lancashire!

A few of the team still had room for pudding - I managed a few sneaky tastes of the chocolate ice cream and the chocolate & orange pudding - if only I'd had room for a full portion! The Lemon Meringue pie was an iceberg of a dessert, a mountain peak of meringue crammed with whipped cream and lemon - it looked fantastic and apparently tasted as good.

And so ended another LBTB meal..... all that is left to say is goodbye and good luck to Adrian - we will you miss you lots! (And I bet the food isn't nearly as good in Redditch!)
